What makes a life genuinely good? What makes a society just?

And if someone asked you, “What does Judaism actually believe?”—what are you supposed to say? “Tikkun Olam?” “Be a good person?”

For thousands of years, Judaism has offered a clear and compelling vision for both the individual and society—rooted in specific ideas and principles.

It’s a message that was never meant to stay within the Jewish community, yet many people—Jewish and not—have never been taught what it really is.

For All Humankind is a four-week conversation exploring Judaism’s foundational, specific ideas about life, purpose, and responsibility—ideas meant for everyone.

Through engaging discussions and big-picture thinking, you’ll gain clarity on Judaism’s message for the world and how it speaks to today’s biggest ethical questions.

No background needed. Just come ready to think.

You’ll walk away able to clearly express what Judaism stands for—and with a deeper understanding of why your values matter, and how every choice you make contributes to something bigger.

Lesson Outline

  1. The Message of Abraham

Our universal message isn’t “Be Jewish.” So, what is it? See how Judaism’s universal concern began with Abraham and what ethical monotheism means in practice.

  1. Is Morality Obvious?

Can logic create morality? Explore the value of innate human dignity, where it comes from, and the trouble with pinning new sources to a timeless moral principle.

  1. Educating Children

What should we teach our children? Is school all about career-prep? See the critical purpose that makes family life so central to Judaism’s universal morality.

  1. It Will Get Better

History is a story of purpose and progress, not endless cycles of doom. See how this makes every moral choice a stepping stone to a harmonious future.

And after this course, when someone asks you what Judaism has to say to the world, you’ll know exactly what to tell them.
